Seth finished 5th on the road in the A-final of the opening round of the 2009 Sprint championship at Buckmore Park on 1st March. However he incurred a 4-place penalty after being held responsible for a spin by another competitor, and was classified 9th overall. There was a strong entry of 61 competitors in the Lightweight class, including title favourites Lee Kemp and Eddie Hall. Seth won his opening heat (from P2 on the grid) after a close tussle with Jack Harding, was third (from P8) in his second heat and tenth (from P17) in his last heat. He qualified 5th for the A-final. After a mediocre start he found himself in close company with Harding after a few laps, running 5th and a little way back from the leading group. Harding pushed past in the second hairpin on lap 4 but slowed abruptly coming down Symes Sweep. Seth made contact from behind and Harding spun out, veering across the track and causing Dan Gore to spin in avoidance. "I don't know why Jack slowed suddenly when I was right on his tail. I guess I should have lifted and tried to swerve but it all happened very quickly. He's new to Club100 and others had remarked that he had been driving a bit strangely, but I obviously didn't mean to cause him to spin. In fact I was amazed at what happened. But I'm really sorry about Dan getting caught up in it all". The next round is at Rye House at the end of March. |
